I know that seeking help is often a difficult decision whether it's for yourself or your loved one. I commend you on your choice to strive for a healthier life. It is important to me that I provide an accepting, comforting environment that allows you to feel safe when discussing difficult topics. As a social worker, I am very client-focused. You are the expert in your life and I want to join with you to enhance your strengths and prepare for a brighter future. I specialize in trauma, PTSD, brain injury, personality disorders, chronic pain, depression, anxiety and grief/loss. I enjoy working with a diverse population. I am knowledgeable in working with children/adolescents who have ADHD, behavioral issues, attachment, neurological disorders, and self-harm. I am trained in EMDR, TF-CBT, DBT and use a wide range of techniques. I enjoy working with young children, teens, families & couples. When working with children, I utilize play/therapeutic art in my practice to assist children in working through the feelings they are unable to talk about. I am knowledgeable about IEPs and 504s and can assist in issues related to school as I know this can be a very overwhelming and frustrating process.

What you feel matters. As a person of faith, clients have the option to choose whether the integration of spirituality is desired. My goal is to meet all of my clients where they are. Some clients do not identify with any faith and others are strongly committed to their personal faith. In a session with me, you are free to express your feelings, without fear of judgement. In therapy, I leave space to explore your feelings, your reactions, and your experiences. You can expect to be challenged to consider other viewpoints as you process your emotions. Many initial sessions begin with you responding to: “Tell me your story”. In therapy, I understand that you are the expert of your own life and I therefore find it imperative that you are given space to share your reality, your perspective and your personal journey up until the session. As individuals, we are shaped by our experiences and in order to move forward, it is often necessary to explore our past. Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are my primary forms of therapy used. As the client, it is important that you understand your own story, and how your emotions, actions and problems fit into the context of your story. With the use of both Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I am here to assist you in making sense of your experiences, thoughts and feelings. Whether you are 7 years old or 77, my previous experiences working with children and youth, work as a Hospice Chaplain and extensive background in grief work allow me to offer therapeutic services to a variety of people.
My Specialties: Spiritual Abuse (My doctoral thesis focused on spiritual abuse and toxic leadership), Addictions (drugs, alcohol, shopping, gaming, etc), Grief (death, loss of job, divorce, life transitions in general), Anxiety, Depression, Racial Trauma, Pre-Marital Counseling, Marital Counseling (Gottman trained Level I, II), Faith-Based and Stress Management, PTSD/Trauma Recovery
